Liquid (or compressed) air is electricity in and (only) electricity out, while hydrogen has multiple different users, which can be nice to keep your inventory moving. This is an important point. I do wonder how the multiple uses of hydrogen might be linked though.
Unlike physical hydrogen storage, chemical hydrogen storage generally achieves hydrogen storage by using a storage medium that combines with hydrogen
1. Introduction. Hydrogen storage systems based on the P2G2P cycle differ from systems based on other chemical sources with a relatively low efficiency of 50–70%, but this fact is fully compensated by the possibility of long-term energy storage, making these systems equal in capabilities to pumped storage power plants.

In the long term, however, the hydrogen technology has a high potential for energy storage and to provide energy in a number of different sectors, while making use of existing infrastructure. Batteries and hydrogen technology are thus complementary technologies rather than competitors – they will all be required on the way towards a
A hydrogen energy storage system requires (i) a power-to-hydrogen unit (electrolyzers), that converts electric power to hydrogen, (ii) a hydrogen conditioning process (compression or liquefaction), (iii) a hydrogen storage system, and (iv) a hydrogen-to-power unit
There are two key approaches being pursued: 1) use of sub-ambient storage temperatures and 2) materials-based hydrogen storage technologies. As shown in Figure 4, higher hydrogen densities can be obtained through use of lower temperatures. Cold and cryogenic-compressed hydrogen systems allow designers to store the same quantity of
Hydrogen has the highest energy per mass of any fuel; however, its low ambient temperature density results in a low energy per unit volume, therefore requiring the development of advanced storage methods that
This paper explores the potential of hydrogen as a solution for storing energy and highlights its high energy density, versatile production methods and ability to bridge gaps in energy supply and demand.
3. Large-Scale Onsite and Geological Hydrogen Storage 4. Hydrogen Use for Electricity Generation, Fuels, and Manufacturing. Beyond R&D, FE can also leverage past experience in hydrogen handling and licensing reviews for liquefied natural gas (LNG) export to support U.S. hydrogen export.
November 2, 2020. One of the planet''s most abundant elements, hydrogen has the capacity to be a game-changer in decarbonising the global energy system, writes Janice Lin, founder and CEO of the Green Hydrogen Coalition. Back in 2016, I was serving as founder and executive director of the California Energy Storage Alliance (CESA).
